New U.S. Embassy & Consulate Projects

New U.S. Mission Mexico Consulates and Embassy projects

Mission Mexico

The United States and Mexico have a consequential bilateral relationship, directly impacting the everyday lives of millions of U.S. and Mexican citizens, whether through trade, joint security, or tourism. Within similar timeframes, the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations undertook five major builds across Mexico: four new consulate generals in Hermosillo, Guadalajara, Merida, and Nogales, and a new embassy in Mexico City. These effective facilities make the U.S. stronger, safer, and more prosperous.

Bilateral Relationship

The bilateral relationship between the United States and Mexico, marked by continuous engagement and a celebrated bicentennial, shapes public security, trade, border management, and cultural exchange and fosters deep cooperation and joint security initiatives.

Customer Service

Expanded consular spaces will improve the customer experience through an expedited flow of visitors and processing, weather protection, and safety considerations.

Economic Union

The U.S.-Mexico economic relationship, now the largest U.S. trade partnership, supports regional integration and competitiveness, with diplomatic facilities stimulating investment, job creation, procurement, and business partnerships.

Building Performance

The new U.S. consulates and embassy in Mexico are archetypes of building performance optimization, as their resilient design reduces risk and operating costs associated with utilities and maintenance while enhancing natural hazards adaptation.
